Also known as Silver mountain, Kopaonik is the largest mountain range in Serbia, with the length of about 75 km, reaching the width of about 40 km in its middle region. Its distance from Belgrade is 260 km. One of its parts is a protected zone named National Park Kopaonik, within which there are many protected natural entities in addition to the biggest ski center in Serbia, which is also located there.

The highest peak of the mountain is Pančićev vrh (Pancic’s Peak), which is 2017m high, where one can find a mausoleum of the famous Serbian natural scientist it was named after. The entire range was named after the vast mineral resources which have been exploited since the Middle Ages, and a string of cultural and historical monuments dating from the 12th to 15th century is located in its wider region.

Thanks to the developed tourist center with modern hotels and related facilities, Kopaonik represents one of the most popular tourist destinations in Serbia. Winters are cold and snowy, and summers warm and sunny. It is snowing for about 159 days per year, from November to May, and Kopaonik is also pleasant in summer and fall, due to nature walks.

Sports tourism is the most represented in a part of Kopaonik called Brzeće, which is at 1100m of elevation, which is ideal for sports preparations.
